Pixlcat Coffee and Butter Mochi is a cafe specializing in coffee and gluten-free butter mochi desserts. With locations in San Francisco, Charlestown, and soon Natick, PixlCat serves seven core flavors, offering a contemporary cafe experience that unites people through food.

CHALLENGE

The key challenge we addressed was to raise awareness of Pixlcat's catering services among potential customers and organizations.

STRATEGY

Our strategy is focused on tackling four key objectives: securing media placements in regional food, lifestyle, or business outlets to increase brand visibility beyond core markets, and increasing awareness of the brand and its catering services through partnerships with on-campus organizations and influencer relationships. This included an initial client meeting to discuss expectations moving forward and adjusting the desired scope of work from our initial meeting. Subsequently, the team researched the client, target audiences, and potential partnership opportunities to develop a plan of action.

RESULTS

  • Pitched to 7 journalists in the food and beverage space, alongside on-campus news outlets, with 3 different pitch angles; secured coverage in 3 news outlets (Daily Free Press, The COMmunicator and Spoon University).

  • Pitched to 14 influencers from a compiled list of 72; responses received from nearly 50% of pitches, secured 4 addresses for PR packages, and coordinated in-person visits with influencers to the Boston storefront.

  • Collaborated with 6 on-campus groups (Hawaiian Student Cultural Association, BU Residence Life, BU PRSSA, Untangled, BU Filipino Student Association, BU Mock Trial) to promote catering services and partnership opportunities, alongside a pending partnership with Harvard Co-Op to host Pixlcat pop-ups.

  • Created and shared on-campus video content on Unleashed's and Pixlcat’s Instagram, leading to additional organizational engagement.
